Community Guidelines & Acceptable Use

Open Chat is designed as an open town square for real-time anonymous conversation. To ensure these spaces remain welcoming and productive for everyone, all participants must abide by these rules.

What We Encourage

  • •Curiosity & Good-Faith Debate: Discuss technology, culture, philosophy, cinema, and ideas on the merits of arguments rather than personalities.
  • •Constructive Sharing: Share knowledge, open-source projects, book/film recommendations, and collaborative insights.
  • •Respect for Pseudonymity: Treat every participant with dignity regardless of their chosen alias.

What Is Strictly Prohibited

  • •Harassment, Stalking & Hate Speech: Bullying, discriminatory slurs, persistent unwanted contact, or targeted hate speech against protected classes.
  • •Doxxing & Real-Identity Disclosure: Publishing another person's private identity, real name, physical address, phone number, or employer.
  • •Illegal Content & Exploitation: Child exploitation, terrorist content, illegal weapons or drug commerce, and promoting self-harm.
  • •Automated Spam & Flooding: Scripted bots, spam messages, automated promotional links, and socket flooding.

Enforcement & Penalties

Violations are reviewed by human moderators and automated systems. Actions taken depend on severity:

Content Removal
Message is soft-deleted with a moderator removal placeholder.
Media Quarantine
Attachments are immediately removed from storage access.
Session Suspension
Session revoked and active WebSockets forcibly disconnected.
Network / IP Block
Source IP subnet blocked from creating new sessions or connecting.
